Few people have defined leadership as an ability to convertdream into reality.What is leadership to me? For me, Leadership is anability to lead and collaborate with others, respecting others’ opinions,without losing your own trust. I believe good leader will always find a way tosolve a problem, even if situation seems hopeless. I find that one of the mostimportant things is to trust in what you do. Because If you’re not convincedabout something, how can you lead the others? Leadership isvery important to me because I was once a leader of my cricket team. As anleader I was very caring, motivating, and always concerned for rest of my team.I tried to build excellence and character.

I proved myself trustworthy so that otherplayers would look up and admired me. Since I was striving to be a good leaderI had to be honest, inspiring, intelligent, and stood firm for what I believedin, not backing down. As a truly committed leader, I strived to know more andcontinually to improve my skills. I did not sit down and watching life go by. Ibelieve that a true leader becomes skilled by studying and following themistakes and accomplishments of others.

Putting himself out there, in the realworld, he is able to relate to others in their daily lives. While there is nosuch thing as a flawless leader, the job should still be done to the best ofhis capability.I see leadership in my father who is a model for me in life; he has been agreat influence on my life since I was born. His ethics and values, his energyduring tough times still serve as example to me, while Chuck Langill, Managerat my workplace is a role model for me in professional life and for my visionof success. I have seen first-hand the difference between effective andineffective leaders.

Everyone has strengthsand weaknesses, some are same and some are different from others. I believe oneof my personal strengths in communication is that I can talk to just aboutanyone that I interact with. I enjoy talking to people. In communication, mystrength would be that I have the capability to listen as well as respond .

I enjoyhaving conversation with people of different cultures, religions, and races becauseit gives me a chance to learn more about their lifestyle. I have learned tocommunicate well with people, because I am an outgoing and social person. Icommunicate better one on one compared to group of people. I have a weaknesswith communication when it comes to having to speak to a large group of people.I become very nervous with my face turning red and will sometimes even forgetwhat I wanted to say. My weakness incommunication is also similarly when I have to speak in front of the class, orin front of a very large group of public. I become nervous, because my weaknessof thinking that they are more focused on me than on the information that Iwill be presenting. I work at that weakness by having the personal strength totry to make the presentation pleasing so that the focus will not be so much onthe on me but the information be presented to the people.

I have learnedthrough the years that it is important to stay focused on your strengths andnot your weaknesses and to realize that for the most part everybody else isprobably just as nervous as I am. I have strength in the fact that I can talkabout most subjects very openly. I try to communicate just the point I amtrying to make and have the point clear to those who are listening.

Communicationfor me is pretty easy depending on the topic being discussed. I sometimes havea weakness in the fact that I may be sometimes too honest with my answer and donot ponder before answering. Now I understand that when you are communicatingwith people, they really do not want the truth because it hurts and could be offensive.

I find that it is much easierfor me to communicate, when I have knowledge of the discussion being discussed.I am very weak when it comes to opening a conversation and leading thediscussion. I will avoid a conversation as much as possible when I have topresent the information to be discussed.Another weakness I have is inmy non-verbal communication skills. The weakness could be described assometimes my body language will give a different answer than what I would have said.When I am using non-verbal communication as a point of contact I will agree tosomething from just listening to the topic being discussed. I try to give attensionto my non-verbal communication skills, because I want the non-verbal to be justas understandable as the verbal. With non-verbal communication, I try to givemore eye contact so that there is no mix-up of the communication that I intended.

I find nodding your head helps in non-verbal communication, because it can say alot. In my communication skills, I have learned that if I highlight thestrengths, then the weaknesses would not be so clear.Since I communicated with alldifferent types of people, I once was told that if I stop and think for fiveseconds before I speak, my communication skills would present themselves in amost intellectual manner. Communication comes somewhat easy for me, because Ilike to talk, but just talking and not communicating would become a weakness.I try to always havesomething to communicate to other people that would be beneficial. Whethercommunicating verbally or non-verbally your actions will mostly, represent howyou are feeling about a particular subject or discussion. When it is possiblealways, try to communicate verbally and have the person you are communicatingwith recognize that they understand what you are saying.Communication, is a very influentialtool and when you understand your strengths and weaknesses in that area youwill be able to communicate much more efficiently with others.

When you arecommunicating, with different types of people you will be able to decide ifverbal or non-verbal communication would be the best method according to theirlogic.
